You will be able to make an appointment to see a doctor or a nurse up to 4 weeks in advance. We run all our surgeries by an appointment only system. You can make an appointment in person, via the telephone or via the internet (Online Access). Please note that doctors’ appointments are usually 10 minutes. We try to make sure you see the doctor of your choice but if they are not available we may ask you to see another doctor.
You can help the surgery run smoothly if you:-
If you are over 16 and have not been seen by a health professional in the last 3 years (1 year if over 75) you may request a general health check
Nunwell Surgery provides appointments as an Extended Hours Service. Routine appointments can be pre-booked to see a Health Care Assistant, our Nurse Practitioner or a GP outside of our normal contracted hours. These are between 6.30 – 8.00 pm on Monday evenings.
The Surgery is not open for normal access during this time.
Doctors are available to give advice over the phone. Please call the normal surgery number and speak to reception. The receptionist will normally take your details and the doctor will call you back. Please make sure that you are available to answer the telephone when the doctor calls back. If you change your telephone number or mobile number please inform the surgery.
On arrival please let Reception know if you require a chaperone to accompany you to your consultation with a clinician. The Chaperone will be either a Nurse/Health Care Assistant or a trained member of the Practice Staff.
Patients in the Herefordshire area are being offered greater access to local GPs and Nurses as part of the Prime Minister’s Challenge Fund.
Taurus Healthcare are managing three primary care hubs (Hereford, Leominster and Ross on Wye) which offer local GP and Nurse services to patients from across the county from 6pm to 8pm on weekdays and 8am to 8pm on weekends and Bank Holidays. If you find it difficult to attend routine appointments in core hours at the surgery we can make you an appointment at one of the Taurus hubs.
Routine appointments can be made at the Taurus hubs by contacting your GP practice.
For more urgent appointments, call the NHS Direct number 111.
At the weekend, an appointment can be made by telephoning 0800 121 7221.

If you are housebound or too ill to come to the surgery and you require a visit at home, please call the surgery before 10am. The doctor may contact you first to check how urgent your call is. Home visits take up much more of a doctor’s time than a consultation in the surgery, so if you are mobile please come into the surgery to be seen.
You will normally be required to ring the surgery to check if your test results are available. If so, the doctor will usually call you back to discuss these, or alternatively you may need to make an appointment to discuss them.
Free hospital transport (ambulance or car) is only available to patients with certain conditions. We are usually not able to make exceptions to the national guidelines, but if in doubt, enquire at reception.
An alternative service is available for people who cannot arrange their own transport:
Bromyard Community Transport (01885) 488452 - Monday to Friday between 9.30 am and 12 noon
