When you contact us, our Care Navigation team will ask you some questions about your health concern. This information allows us to navigate you to the best health professional to help you. We may also refer you to other services that are better placed to provide the care you need.

Urgent, Same Day Appointments

If you require an urgent, same day appointment, whether this be face to face or a telephone call, please call Reception on 01885 483412. Alternatively, you can visit the Surgery and speak with one of our Reception Team.

Please do not submit an online query for an urgent appointment as this will not be reviewed immediately.

Our Care Navigators will signpost your call to the most appropriate clinician based on clinical need. If your concern is not deemed to be clinically urgent, you may be offered a routine appointment instead. This is to help ensure we have enough urgent appointments for patients who need them.

Routine GP Appointments

Routine GP appointments can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance.

To book a routine appointment, you can either:

  1. Use the NHS App to book a face-to-face or telephone appointment
  2. Click here to submit a request online – your request will be reviewed by one of our Care Navigation team and assigned to the appropriate clinician or department. These requests will be actioned within 48 working hours.
  3. Call Reception on 01885 483412 during opening hours.
  4. Visit the Surgery during opening hours and speak with one of our Reception team.

Extended Hours & Enhanced Access – Taurus Healthcare

Patients in the Herefordshire area are being offered greater access to local GPs, Nurses and Health Care Assistants.

Taurus Healthcare are managing three primary care hubs (in Hereford, Leominster and Ross on Wye) that offer services to patients across the county weekday evenings and 8am to 8pm on weekends and Bank Holidays. Routine appointments can be pre-booked to see a Health Care Assistant, our Nurse Practitioner or a GP outside of our normal contracted hours.

Taurus Healthcare’s Enhanced Access Service (operating on behalf of Herefordshire General Practice) offers evening and weekend appointments at a number of hubs across Herefordshire when GP surgeries are closed.

To access the service, you must be registered with a Herefordshire GP Practice. To book an appointment at any of the hubs, simply call our Surgery during their normal opening hours and request a Taurus Enhanced Access appointment.

If we are closed, call NHS 111.

Please note that the Enhanced Access Service is not a walk-in service. You must have a booked appointment to see a GP at one of our hubs.

Chaperone

On arrival please let Reception know if you require a chaperone to accompany you to your consultation with a clinician. The Chaperone will be either a Nurse/Health Care Assistant or a trained member of the Practice Staff.

Interpreters

If you are a non-English speaker, we are able to access telephone interpreters to translate during your appointment. At the time of booking your appointment, please advise the Reception team that you require an interpreter so one can be arranged.

Home Visits

If you are housebound or too ill to come to the surgery and you require a visit at home, please call the surgery before 10am.

The doctor may contact you first to check how urgent your call is.

Home visits take up much more of a doctor’s time than a consultation in the surgery, so if you are mobile please come into the surgery to be seen.

Attending Your Appointment

You can help the surgery run smoothly if you:-

  • check in using the Automated arrivals system or report to the reception desk when you arrive.
  • let the receptionist know if you are likely to need more than 10 minutes at the time of booking
  • remember that the appointment is for one person only.
  • try to be punctual.
  • let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to keep an appointment

Please attend your appointment on time.  If you are late we may not be able to see you.

Telephoning the Doctor

Doctors are available to give advice over the phone. Please call the normal surgery number and speak to Reception. Our Care Navigators will normally take your details, book you a telephone appointment and the doctor will call you back.

There will be some instances where the Doctor will need to see you in Surgery (such as for a suspected chest infection).

Please make sure that you are available to answer the telephone when the doctor calls back.  If you change your telephone number or mobile number please inform the surgery.

Health Checks

Any patients between the age of 16 years and 74 years who have not received a consultation within 3 years can request a consultation, during which we will make such inquiries and undertake such examinations as considered appropriate in the circumstances.

Any patients aged 75 years or over who have not received a consultation within 12 months can request a consultation, during which we will make such inquiries and undertake such examinations as considered appropriate in the circumstances.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
